Welcome to my blog! This being my first entry, I thought I would tell you a little about myself (or refresh your memories) and a little about my intial purpose for this blog.
I have a bachelor's degree in English, with a concentration in Literature and Creative Writing (my own emphasis was on the Literature half), and my teacher's license in English.
Obviously I love to read and write, especially read. While I like all kinds of books (as long as they are well-written), my "go-to" books are mysteries (I have an uncommon fondness for Agatha Christies's work), Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte (Jane Eyre is my absolute favorite book of all time), and late 19th century children's lit (i.e. Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, etc.).
I also love to cross-stich, embroider, and am learing how to crochet. I tried knitting for the first time a few months ago, and making progress, although I am still a rank beginner. I am also a rank beginning at sewig,g, but will be taking a class over the next six weeks to learn. I also like to cook and bake (I am a novice in this area too), and just putter around my apartment being domestic. Oh, and I am a complete and total Anglophile-- Oxford circa 1950 would be my idea of paradise!
Perhaps the most important aspect of myself is that I am a child of God and a follower of Jesus. I was not raised Christian--far, far from it in fact. But through out my high school years I felt the Lord calling me home and shortly after I graduated I gave in to that call and gave my life to Him. I am still learning what it means to be a follower of Christ and to love and serve my brothers and sisters, but I learn something new every day.
On January 2, 2010, I married my best friend and the most wonderful man in the whole world. And on September 16, 2010, our family grew when our beautiful daughter, Lorelai, was born (she was three weeks early, for anyone who did the math ;)).
I intend this blog to be primarily a sewing/craft blog-- sharing with you the projects I am working on (and perhaps providing some accountability for me to finish them!), and seeking advice from those more experienced. I will, though, be including things that I am learning in my journey as a new wife and mother, and in the realm of homekeeping in general.
So please, come back soon!
